Notice to Jefferson Parish Residents FEMA Trailers, Campers, Motor Homes, On-Site Storage Units
As of April 1, 2007, placement or occupancy of trailers, campers, motor homes, on-site storage units, or other temporary housing or storage units presently located on these premises is no long allowed
in Jefferson Parish in accordance with all applicable provisions of the Jefferson Parish Code of Ordinances (JPCO). The emergency provision of Jefferson Parish Ordinance # 22632 expires March 31, 2007.
The temporary suspension of JPCO Chapter 40 and other provisions to provide temporary emergency housing/temporary storage following 2005 Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will be ending on March 31, 2007.
Under no circumstances will extensions be allowed by the Parish beyond March 1, 2008.
Those remaining in trailers after March 1 will be summoned to court for a violation of the parish zoning ordinance.
Residents can call the FEMA help line at (888) 294-2822 to request that a trailer be removed once it is no longer needed.
FEMA’s extension of the Temporary Housing Program does not in itself supersede the local zoning ordinance prohibiting such units on residential property.
Individuals who are living in trailers and need assistance in finding a more permanent housing solution can call FEMA’s Rental Resources number at (888)-294-2822 or visit their website

Beginning in January 2008, The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) began working with FEMA to transition eligible families out of travel trailers and into rental housing.
On March 1, 2008, HUD will begin a program called Disaster Housing Assistance. For more information please call 866)-373-9509 or visit their website at

Jefferson Parish will enforce all applicable ordinances regarding placement and occupancy of trailers, campers, motor homes or other temporary shelters and storage units effective April 1, 2007. You
must:
IF YOU RECEIVED A VIOLATION NOTICE FROM PEPPER AND ASSOCIATES, INC.
If you have received a violation notice and require additional information, or for reasons beyond your control, cannot yet vacate their temporary living unit/portable storage unit and wish to
request an extension; You must submit a written request including the following information:
Your full name
Your address provide both the physical location of trailer and your current mailing address)
Your contact phone number(s) (including area code)
The citation/violation number issued by this office
FEMA Trailer number (Your FEMA trailer number is located in your lease packet, on the inside of the front door frame, and stamped on ball and tongue on front of trailer)
If you have an active Jefferson Parish Building Permit for repair of the permanent structure, please provide a photocopy of your building permit
Your reason for an extension request, including any supporting documentation
Failure to provide the all of the information requested above will result in denial of your request for extension. The required information may be submitted as follows by one of the

unit.
If you have received a violation notice and require additional information, please call the telephone number shown on your violation notice. Authority for inspection and enforcement of
